The Mission of APICC is very simply to work to ensure the availability of highly trained Alaskans, sufficient to staff the process industry competitively in the years to come through partnerships, leadership, awareness and advocacy, and alignment with education institutions and workforce development priorities and initiatives. The activities of APICC, our yearly strategic plans and initiatives, the collaborative work of member companies and organizations, the work of APICC staff, and the work of the APICC Board of Directors and APICC Committees (Needs Assessment, Career Readiness, and Education and Training Committees) are all aligned to this mission.
The Alaska Process Industry Careers Consortium (APICC) has been an integral player in workforce development for the Process Industries and contractor companies in Alaska since 1998. APICC is a non-profit (501c.3) consortium serving constituents in the Oil, Gas, Mining, Power Generation, Water Treatment, and other natural resource, process industries, and contractor companies in Alaska. Economic development and workforce development go hand-in-hand; an available workforce depends upon the availability of quality training and student access to educational opportunities. Industry-driven curricula and employability skills are the links that facilitate success at the workplace.
APICC currently provides a number of initiatives and services to its constituents and the Alaska education and business community including Priority Occupations Report (POR), Youth Employability Skills (YES), Teacher Industry Externships (TIE), Process Industry Career Guide, Mobile Process and Energy Industry Careers Briefcase, Alaska Engineering Academies, and the North Slope Training Cooperative (NSTC) delivering high quality, standardized health, safety and environmental training programs and instructor certifications.
Your membership in APICC, in collaboration with other Alaska industries and companies, education providers, government, labor and trade organization members, will work to help build a sustainable system of workforce development and career pathways for Alaska’s citizens.
