Purpose:
Develop and document career information for introduction to school age youth and provide support opportunities for learners in training programs. Offers career exploration and foundation skill program information.
Committee Strategic Objectives:
Increase awareness of process industry careers and provide guidance along industry career paths in both urban and rural Alaska through:
· Coordination of TIE, Career Fairs, STeP and Career Awareness Workshops annually.
Advocate to provide CTE opportunities for students who do not have access to them.
· Recommend creative ways to provide CTE in summer and different locations & Train the Trainer
Engage employers, educators and learners to improve preparedness, recruiting, placement and retention in programs.
· Utilize and promote existing APICC programs such as: internships, scholarships, job shadowing, tours, CAW, STeP, TIE, YES
· Create a regionalized map of Alaska for educators and employers?
· Arm the messenger (Align with the program) & Create the posse (role models) – CTSO’s, cub scouts, etc. Tie/TIE
Engage Education Community to improve their preparedness by:
· Encouraging participation in APICC programs such as TIE, CAW, etc.
· providing guidance for educators on best practices such as: AMEREF / ANSEP / etc.
· Create a speaker bureau - TIE, educator participants
