Purpose:
Develop and document standards based training and educational opportunities to meet Alaska’s workforce needs for high priority occupational skill sets based on industry needs. Works with the Standards and Curriculum sub-committee on curriculum specific tasks for K-16 training, including employability skills and
attitudes.
Committee Strategic Objectives:
Assure the capacity exists to meet employer industry needs by:
· Identifying training standards/requirements of industry
· Comparing & identifying the capacity of training providers in Alaska
Assure appropriate standards-based training and education opportunities exist to meet the process industry’s employment needs. (in Alaska)
· Identify standards for positions and skills.
· Prioritize training needs based on employment projections
· Identify which training programs need modification or development
· Recognize Alaska programs that meet industry standards
· Provide information about training opportunities that meet industry standards that don’t currently exist in Alaska.
Become the professional resource for the industry, government agencies, labor, and education.
· Develop database of existing occupational skill standards in process industry
· Identify areas which lack standards and assist in standards development
