Priority Occupations Report
A Look at Priority Occupations for Alaskans over the next 10 years!
APICC’s Priority Occupations Report (POR) is maintained by APICC’s Needs Assessment Committee.
A two-step process is used to identify priority occupations for Alaska’s oil, gas, and mining industries. The numbers of jobs, needs-based declines and/or growth in industry occupations, numbers of incumbent workers, and age demongraphics of workers in specific occupations are analyzed. Then, industry groups are provided first hand input regarding current and projected difficulty in hiring for each occupation and provide priority rankings.
Occupations are categorized by tier 1 (shortage), tier 2(concern), and tier 3 (available) priority categories within the POR. These occupations are also grouped into sets of related jobs, or APICC categories.
The Alaska Department of Labor and Workforce Development has used this information to develop tables display summary statistics for gasline occupations by APICC category.
